The Houston 2600 Meetup
|
We adhere to 'The Hacker Ethic' as proposed in "Hackers, Heroes of the Computer Revolution" by Steven Levy: 1. Access to computers, and anything which might teach you something about the way the world works, should be unlimited and total. In summary, the hacker ethic deals with the idea that individuals are performing a duty for the common good, an analogy to a modern day 'Robin Hood'. The hacker community take pride in the fact that they are the rebellion against authority figures that restrict this level of computer freedom. Mostly the hacker ethic idealizes the notion of hacking being an art-form, something revered as opposed to disputed and frowned upon... NOTE: All applicants are approved. However I do wish to keep spiders from indexing us, and confine conversations to group members. Thanks for understanding. - Jeffrey

Our next meeting:
The Houston 2600 May Meeting
I would deeply appreciate it if each of you would answer the following questionaire
Between now and May 1st, I will be reviewing the responses and collating input. I plan to post this data online (viewable to members only). This will help to introduce us to each other, help to start conversations and then above all give me an idea of what the group consists of so that I can research topics for future meetings. Read more
